The NorthShore University HealthSytem Division of Emergency Medicine is fortunate to have significant expertise in the area of emergency ultrasound. Tim Heilenbach, MD and Clifford Rice, MD lead our Division's development of expertise in ultrasound based techniques for diagnosis and provision of care for the emergency patient.
There are certain instances where emergency ultrasound can provide immediate diagnostic information that will greatly assist the emergency physician in taking care of the patient. More importantly, the use of ultrasound is painless and does not expose patients to radiation or chemicals.
Dr. Timothy Heilenbach is a board-certified, emergency residency trained physician.
